The Struggle Is Real

Things I've Carried to a Soccer Field That No Human Should Have to Carry

There's a special kind of suffering that only a youth soccer parent knows. It starts in the driveway, arms completely full, keys clamped between your teeth, a bag of orange slices balanced on top of a cooler that's slowly sliding out of your grip. You haven't even left the car yet. And somehow — somehow — this is still better than last weekend.

We've been polling the sideline community. We've heard the stories. We've lived the stories. What follows is a completely honest, entirely unsettling list of things that real parents have hauled across real parking lots to real soccer fields — often across wet grass, in the dark, before 7 a.m.

"No one warned me that signing my kid up for travel soccer was actually signing myself up for amateur logistics."

— Every Soccer Parent, Eventually

The Official List

  1. A canopy still in the box from Amazon Bought it at 11pm the night before. Truly believed you'd "figure it out" at the field. You did not figure it out. It is still in that box.
  2. A full-size kitchen cooler on wheels The wheels weren't rated for gravel. You found this out the hard way. One wheel is still somewhere in the Battlefield High School parking lot.
  3. A broken wagon that requires two people to collapse Or one person, significant upper body strength, and a willingness to just leave it open in the trunk forever.
  4. A dog in a stroller Nobody said anything. Everyone was thinking it. The dog seemed to enjoy the tournament more than you did.
  5. Four pairs of cleats "just in case" Three of which no longer fit your kid. One of which belongs to someone else entirely. You don't know whose kid it was. It was two seasons ago.
  6. A Costco flat of water bottles with one already leaking The wet one was on the bottom. Obviously. It is always on the bottom.
  7. A full-size beach umbrella with a broken spoke Held together with a hair tie. Deployed exactly once before a gust of wind turned it inside out and sent it forty feet across the field during warmups.
  8. A portable phone charger with no cable You brought the brick. You did not bring the cable. The cable is in your other bag. Your other bag is in the car. You are very far from the car.
  9. A knee brace for a knee you don't actually use It's just always in the bag now. It has become part of the bag. The bag would feel wrong without it.
  10. A toddler in a carrier, a dog on a leash, and a 10-year-old who "can't carry anything" All at once. While also holding the orange slices. This is called a tournament Saturday.
  11. A folding table — just for snacks To be fair, the snacks needed a surface. The table was completely reasonable. Everyone else just didn't plan ahead.
  12. A generator You know who you are.

The Part Where We Fix It

The real question isn't what you've carried — it's why you keep doing it. And the honest answer is: because you love your kid, and nobody offered you a better option. Until now.

Sideline Society exists entirely because of that list above. We get the gear to your field before you arrive. The setup is your moment — we just make sure everything's already there when you show up. You walk in with your family, your coffee, and whatever snacks you insist on bringing anyway.

That's it. That's the whole thing. No hauling. No assembly. No parking lot physics. Reserve your setup for the next tournament →
